Project Description:

In physical simulations, video games and computational geometry, collision detection involves algorithms for checking for collision, i.e. intersection, of two given solids.

The common way in which the current collision detection algorithms work, is to pre-process the 3D objects offline, and then run in real-time on smaller and simplified data (such as “oriented bounding box” method). 

In this project, we will develop an algorithm that is able to run in real-time and that is suitable for 2.5D surfaces, such as the ones created by a range camera. See the link for an example of the usage of such algorithm.
