Using seamless cloning, the selection is modified to blend in with the background.
However, important details are hidden by parts of selection that have no significant details (image 5.d.).
By using mixed gradients, or more specifically, by taking the maximum of either the source image's gradients or the target image's gradients, for each point, we receive a result in which the target's details are preserved in every part of the selection where there are no significant changes in the source (image 5.e.).
